Jennifer Winkelmann, MA, LPC, NCC is the Founder and Clinical Director of Inward Bound, LLC. As a psychotherapist for individuals, couples, and families, Jen’s primary clinical focus is adoption and foster care issues, including the impact of early trauma and the spectrum of relationship difficulties that result from disrupted attachments. In addition to her private practice, Jen serves as the consulting clinician for Catholic Charities Child Welfare programs and frequently partners with Coaching for Life and the National Institute for Trauma Informed Care. While Jen specializes in work with children who have suffered attachment trauma, she also offers services for couples addressing marital issues and to adult individuals seeking help with depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, stress, and grief/loss.
Her approach is family centered, using a combination of psycho-education and regulatory therapy. She comes to you with 11 years of experience working with children from high-risk populations and their families. She completed her graduate studies in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Couple and Family Therapy at the University of Colorado at Denver. Her clinical experience includes:
- Therapy, consultation, and coaching for families with attachment challenged children (both international and domestic adoptions)
- Intensive attachment and regulatory therapy
- Clinician, treatment foster care programs
- Training for parents, educators, and mental health professionals on facilitating healing for wounded children
- Counseling for Couples and Adult Individuals
- Residential and day treatment facilities for high-risk youth
- Clinical Supervision and Consultation Services for other mental health professionals

Kimberly Malsom, BA, is the Director of Public Relations at Inward Bound. She received her bachelor's degree in Sociology from Regis University in 2004 with emphasis in Spanish and Peace & Justice Studies. Her public relations experience is concentrated in the adoption field, as she has over 9 years experience working with families who have completed a domestic and/or international adoption. As she gives support to families and children at various stages throughout their journey and continues on her own path of growth, she shares her talents with a variety of organizations that work to enhance our society both on the systematic and individual level. Susan Merten, MA, is the Director of Inward Bound's administrative office. She received her master's degree in Child, Family, and School Psychology from the University of Denver in 2006. Work with children and families has been Susan's focus for over ten years and the last two have been concentrated on support for families who have adopted internationally. As a social worker, Susan completes home studies for families pursuing international adoption and facilitates a support group for young international adoptees addressing the unique challenges they face. **Inward Bound is happy to congratulate Susan and her husband on the recent addition to their family!
